Economics Journal Rankings

Economics Journal Rankings

Economics journal rankings are one of the interesting issues that academic economists like to talk about. There are many issues that rankings of economics journals have to confront such as the number of times articles in a journal are cited, the reputation and perception of the journal amongst the profession, the history of the journal, the impact factor of the journal, the editorial board and editor of the journal, the number of "classic" articles published, the rejection rate of the journal, the reputation of the authors that publish in the journal and the status of their respective departments and the current momentum of the journal etc. Another issue concerns whether the journal is a leading "field journal" in a particular area of the discipline. For example, is it a leading journal in the areas of labor economics, international economics, behavioural economics, health economics, mathematical economics or financial economics ? As result there are a number of ranking tables and systems used to rank economic journals and below we list the most well known rankings in economics.
